What is it like teaching in the UK?

Initially teaching in the UK will be different from your own classroom experience. Each school will have its own educational ethos, dress code, health and safety procedures and behaviour policy, which will be new to you. The National Curriculum might not be too different from back home but it will take time to adjust to the nature and culture of schools throughout the UK.

There are good support systems built into the management of schools and being suitably prepared will assist during your induction period. Teaching Personnel can help here by offering free induction and training courses throughout the year. Ask your personal consultant for more information. The more prepared you are, the sooner you will start to enjoy your teaching experience.

On arrival to the UK, you will either work in a long term position or as a day to day supply teacher. Both scenarios have different benefits and your International Team and or Personal Recruitment Consultant will discuss with you the type of work that best suits your needs. Ultimately it’s about matching you with the right schools.
