What work permits / visas are accepted?

Before you make any decisions on working or travelling in the UK, you must ensure that you are legally allowed to do so. Have a look at our guide to see if you can automatically work.

Working Holidaymaker
The simple guide is that you can apply for a working holiday visa if you are a commonwealth citizen under the age of 30. The main purpose of your visit to the UK must be for holiday reasons and any work is only permitted to support your travels. For more details and applications you will need to contact your local British High commission.
Student Visa
Students from countries outside of the European Economic Area, who are interested in working in the UK, can work for 20 hours a week on a student visa. You are not required to have a separate permit to work but must have the correct stamp in your passport. Any work must be authorised by your course directors to ensure that working does not interfere with your studies.
Ancestral Visa
If you have British ancestry or patriality i.e. your grand parents are British, you are entitled to work in the UK.
European Community
If you have an EC passport you are automatically entitled to work in the UK
Spousal Visa
If your partner has a legal permit to work in the UK, ancestry visa, student visa or dual nationality you are entitled to work in the UK.

Unfortunately we are unable to assist teachers who do not already have one of the above.
