You’re certain to find something to tempt you here in Sheffield…even if it’s just the warm Yorkshire welcome…
With an ever-growing cosmopolitan feel, Sheffield is fast establishing itself as a top destination for people hunting high culture and the arts, a dazzling nightlife and exquisite restaurants, as well as breathtaking countryside. We have it all: the largest theatre complex outside of London, Europe’s biggest all season ski resort, the UK’s most successful shopping mall, internationally renowned nightlife, award-winning galleries and museums and that enviable location just 5 miles from the Peak District National Park! The only problem is having time to fit it all in!
You will be spoilt for choice when it comes to shopping in Sheffield. A short Supertram ride from the centre is Meadowhall, one of Europe's biggest shopping malls with more than 270 stores. The City Centre complements Meadowhall perfectly, with its broad pedestrianised streets, high-street stores and independent designer shops.
As the National City of Sport, Sheffield has an enviable choice of world-class facilities including the prestigious English Institute of Sport. These include Europe’s largest ice complex and all season ski resort, Olympic swimming pool, golf courses, tennis and squash courts, and more besides. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the proximity of the Peak District and all it has to offer for walkers, cyclists and climbers. Watch out for Sheffield’s famous sporting events including World Snooker and British Open Show jumping.
So what else is just a short drive from Sheffield? Why not sample the famous pudding in Bakewell, the ancient spa town of Buxton, the 'plague village' of Eyam or Derbyshire’s only surviving Norman Keep, Peveril Castle, in Castleton.
Chatsworth is known as the 'Palace of the Peak' and is quite possibly the UK's most stunning country house and a 'must see' for any visitor. The magnificent grounds alone - with their fountains, formal gardens and maze - are worth the 25 minute scenic drive from Sheffield."
