International Team Sports Report

Earlier this year, Teaching Personnel's International Department entered a team into the 'social' Tuesday night touch rugby competition at Clapham Common. Social can be used very lightly though, as we experienced after playing a certain antipodean team (and they weren't Kiwi's) who took a liking to 'heavy handed' touches... we're guessing they didn't get picked in rugby in high school and now have something to prove. Our team functioned on a spirit of fun, we didn't take it too serioulsy and as a result we were less stressed on the field... apparently this equates to an attitude reflective of wooden spooners, but retrospectively, I feel that our team attitude was something other teams aspired to. 

Although our win-loss record was something only a mum could be proud of, our skills increased with every passing week and we were able to give it to the competition... the fact that they could attack, pass, intercept, fake, dummy and run arrows better that us wasn't good for our winning margins, or losses as it were. We're looking forward to getting back into it next year and showing them that like Jenson Button, we lack consistency, but we can win games sometimes and look good doing it.
